How to Make a GIF Screensaver

Good commercial screensavers found online are usually hard to come by, and often come with a fee. If you'd rather not pay, or you'd like something more personalized, it's a good idea to make your own screensaver. This tutorial helps you create a "picture slideshow" screensaver using any collection of GIF photos stored on your hard drive.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Computer with Windows XP
  • GIF photos
  1. Step 1

Right-click on the Desktop and select "New" and then "Folder." Type "My GIF Screensaver" as the folder name.

  2. Step 2

Find the GIFs that you'd like to use in your screensaver. Click and drag them into the folder you created in Step 1, so that they are all in the same folder.

  3. Step 3

Right-click on the Desktop and click "Properties" to open the "Display Properties" window. Click the "Screen Saver" tab. Under "Screen Saver" select the "My Picture Slideshow" screensaver.

  4. Step 4

Click the "Settings" button. Next to "Use pictures in this folder:" click "Browse." Navigate to the "My GIF Screensaver" folder on the desktop and click OK.

  5. Step 5

Click "Preview" to preview your new screensaver. If it is to your liking, move the mouse to get back to the "Display Properties" window and hit "OK".
