How to Video Conference With a Webcam

In today's day and age, webcams enable people to communicate with video in addition to audio. There are many free services online that allow you to have unlimited video chat sessions with family and friends anywhere in the world. This can help keep you in touch and can save you a lot of money over the long run.

Instructions
  1. Step 1

Purchase and connect a webcam to your computer. This is a simple plug-and-play operation--just connect the webcam through your USB port and microphone jack. There should not be any software or drivers to install for the camera.

  2. Step 2

Download video-enabled software. Skype and Google Talk allow for free video conferencing. Set up an account and login.

  3. Step 3

Add your friends as contacts in the software. You will need to know either their usernames or email addresses.

  4. Step 4

Initiate a conversation online and begin using the webcam. Use the picture-in-picture to make sure your webcam is aimed properly so that your friend can see you properly
