How to Activate a Computer Power Supply

You can set your desktop computer or laptop to automatically activate the power supply if you want the computer system to turn on at a specific time each day. This means that you will not need to press the power button each day to turn your computer's power supply on. Setting the power supply to come on automatically can save time so you do not have to wait while the computer is loading the operating system.

Instructions
  1. Step 1

    Turn on your computer and press the F2 key to access the BIOS.

  2. Step 2

    Tab to the "Power Management" section.

  3. Step 3

    Go to the "Auto On Mode," depending on the model of computer you are using, and press the Enter key on the keyboard.

  4. Step 4

    Change the "Auto On Mode" to "Every Day" or "Weekday Only" and press the Enter key again.

  5. Step 5

    Press the Del key on the keyboard to exit the "Auto On" option.

  6. Step 6

    Tab down to "Auto On Time" and press the Enter key.

  7. Step 7

    Enter the time you would like to have the computer turn on the power supply each day and press the Enter key when complete.

  8. Step 8

    Press the ESC key to exit the BIOS and to restart the computer.
