1. Step 1

   First you can purchase software that can put a firewall around your computer to make it more difficult for the hackers to get into your computer. This can be purchased at your local office supply store or on line.

2. Step 2

   Next, always make sure that you turn your computer off when you are not using it. You would be surprised to learn how many people forget to do this.

3. Step 3

   Always close the internet sites when you are done using them. You do not want to leave open your email accounts or any thing for that matter that has personal information.

4. Step 4

   If you have internet service thru a DSL line or a Dial Up Modem you are assigned an IP address and this number connects your computer to your internet service provider and now you are online. Because that number does not change it is easier for someone to hack into your computer. If on the other hand you have your service thru a provider that connects you to the internet thru the air instead of thru wires then every time you access the internet you will have a different IP number that will connect you and you have a greater chance of not being hacked into.
