Remote Desktop provides users graphical interface to other Window computer

To Enable Remote Desktop on Windows XP
This feature allows one stationary computer to receive digital input of stored files from a computer in the same network or miles away.
1. The computer you want to access remotely should have WindowsXP installed. Also, the computer you have want to establish connections with should be a part of the corporate network that contains network connections. This particular computer is called the host.
2. The computer you are using to remotely receive graphical and audio interface should be running Windows 95 or later. Remote desktop should be installed on this computer, which is known as the client.
3. A VPN connection for internet must be established on both computers. If the host computer does not have VPN connection, you will need to enter the computers IP address rather than the computer name.
4. Start the Remote Desktop installation process from the host computer, and you will need to sign in as the administrator.
5. Go to your Windows screen, click on Start, then Control Panel and finally Performance and Maintenance.
6. Scroll over and click the System icon
7. Clik on the Remote tab, and select the "Allow users to connect remotely to this computer" check box, and click OK.
8. To allow exceptions in Windows firewall, under control panel click Security Center.
9. For the Manage security for option, click Windows Firewall.
10. The Don't Allow Exceptions check box should be unchecked.
11. Under the exceptions tab, verify that the Remote Desktop check box is selected.
12. Click OK, which will close the WindowsSecurity Center window. All these steps will allow the host computer Remote Desktop access.
13. To find the name of the computer, click performance and maintenance, click Sytem and then the Computer Name tab.
14. After recording the full computer name, click OK to close control panel.
15. Keep the computer running on the corporate network with internet, but leave it locked. - Step
Steps Needed to Connect Remote Computer to Host Computer
1.In your Windows screen, click start, scroll over to All Programs and then point to Accessories.
2. In Accessories, scroll over Communications and then choose the Remote Desktop Connection sign.
3. You need to type in the name of the host computer you wrote down earlier.
4. Click the Connect bar
5. When the "Log On to Windows" dialog appears, type in the username password and domain in necessary, then click okay.
6. Remote desktop will open on your desktop and you can see all the programs, files and settings associated with the host computer. Keep in mind, the host computer will remain locked and your activities are private to others. - Step
To end your Remote Desktop session, click start and then prompt for Log Off option.
