How to Create a Calendar With Photoshop

Adobe Photoshop is a powerful and popular program for editing graphics and images. Photoshop's wide variety of tools and filters allow you to easily create almost any type of design. By using your favorite photo or image as a background, you can effortlessly create a unique and personal monthly calendar with Photoshop. Through the use of layers and Photoshop's type tool, you can quickly construct a simple or complex calendar that perfectly suits your needs.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Computer
  • Digital image or photo file
  • Adobe Photoshop
  1. Step 1

Open your digital photo file in Adobe Photoshop. Go to "Layer" in the main menu of Photoshop and select "New layer."

  2. Step 2

Choose the "Type tool" in the "Tools" palette. Go to the "Type tool" settings located at the top of Photoshop, just under the main menu. Choose the style, size, and color of font you want for your calendar. For the "Alignment" setting, select "Center."

  3. Step 3

Hold down your mouse anywhere in the image and draw a narrow vertical rectangle text box. It should be just wide enough to hold two or three letters.

  4. Step 4

First type "S" for Sunday and then click the "Enter" key. If your month begins on a Sunday, type "1." If it does not begin on Sunday, click the "Enter" key again to leave the Sunday for that week blank. Begin entering the dates for every Sunday of that month. Place each date on a new line.

  5. Step 5

Go back to "Layer" in the main menu and select "New Layer" again. Repeat steps 2 through 4 for each day of the week, with the dates for each day listed beneath on individual lines. It does not matter where you put the text boxes at this point.

  6. Step 6

Select the "Move tool" in the "Tools" menu. Using the "Layers" palette to select each individual layer, roughly move the seven columns into order next to each other. Spread out the layers so that the horizontal space between each column suits your needs.

  7. Step 7

Go back to the "Layers" palette. Hold down the "Shift" key and select each of the seven date layers until they are all highlighted. Click the "Link" button at the bottom of the "Layers" palette.

  8. Step 8

Go to "Layer" in the main menu and select "Align." Click "Top Edges." Go back to "Layer" and select "Distribute." Choose "Horizontal Centers." Your calendar should now be evenly aligned and spaced.

  9. Step 9

Go to "Layer" and click "New Layer." Choose the "Type tool" and click anywhere on your image. Type the month and year for your calendar. Select the "Move tool" and move the title of your calendar to the position you want.
