How to Copy a CD to a Hard Drive

You can to copy a video CD with your favorite movie or save personal pictures to the hard drive by copying the files off a CD and pasting them back to your hard drive, like with an internal file transfer. However, you have to make sure that the CD is not copy protected and that you are allowed to transfer the contents to your computer.

1. Step
   

   Insert the CD in the CD or DVD drive on your computer and then double-click the "My Computer" icon on your desktop.

2. Step

   Double-click the drive letter that represents the CD or DVD drive with the inserted CD (usually marked with letter "D:") to open it and then select all of the contents.

3. Step

   Right-click the selection and click on "Copy" in the drop-down menu.

4. Step

   Go back to the first "My Computer" screen, right-click the "C:" drive (or go to the location on your hard drive where you want to drop the copied content) and then select "Paste
